I still have some beautiful things to show you from our Sunny Design Days tour in Spain, so expect a few more posts here this week! In Barcelona, we were lucky to spend a night at yök Casa + Cultura, which is something like a hotel apartment but way nicer and more personal. yök is run by Petz and Mari, who have their office on the top floor of the building and can give you lots of good tips about the city (the really good addresses, not the touristic ones...). Our group shared the most charming 4 bedroom apartment, but there are also two other apartments available, both sleeping 4 persons.

Later that night, we got to enjoy a fantastic rooftop dinner together with some local designers and other creative people. The delicious dinner was prepared by Pepi de Boissieu and served on beautiful trays from Delica, a company founded in 2005 in Bera-Navarre and several times awarded for its design. Susanna and Desiree also styled some great photos with Delica's products in our apartment as you can see below.

Above a picture from our rooftop dinner which was served on these nice Delica trays. Needless to say, the view over Barcelona was stunning from up there! Also, yök regularly hosts cultural events on the rooftop where guests and locals mingle together.
And below a few more photos from our lovely apartment.

This amazing space is located in a former leather factory in Stockholm, converted into apartments in 2013. What I take with me: the dark floorboards warming up the space, the visible pipes recalling the building's past, the floor to ceiling curtains reinforcing the impressive volumes, the stairs built in storage, the big indoor tree giving life to it all, the table and bench from No Early Birds (a Swedish brand that I like a lot) as well as this season's must-have piece of furniture, the daybed, here in leather. More pictures here.

D'autres images ici.

Last week the 20th edition of Maison & Objet took place here in Paris. As usual I spent quite a few hours strolling down the aisles, trying to get a good look at the latest design news. You've probably already seen lots of pictures from the fair on other blogs so I won't bore you with an endless article here, but just show you some of my own favourites. I'm always on the lookout for Scandinavian brands, so you will find many of those here below, but not only... Come along for a walk!
(sorry for the bad photo quality but I only had my phone with me...)

I love seeing a piece of furniture come alive, whether it's in an industrialized factory (which I saw a lot of while working for IKEA) or traditional handicraft. That's why I was thrilled when we had the opportunity to visit Expormim's factory and showroom on our Sunny Design tour in Spain this summer. Located in Moixent, an hour's drive from Valencia, Expormim has been making in- and outdoor rattan furniture for the last 55 years, always with the same high level of comfort, sturdiness and durability.

I was fascinated by the these women and men's craftsmanship.

Did I mention that Expormim's showroom is located in the most stunning 18th century building?

I love the idea behind Alphabeta, the new pendant lamp designed by Luca Nichetto for Hem. Choose between 8 different shapes of interchangeable top and bottom shades, available in a range of hues as well as in black and white, in order to create a lamp with your own personal expression. Light can be directed up and down thanks to the two light bulbs, one on each side. Customize yours here.

One of our mornings in Barcelona started with breakfast at Nanimarquina's showroom, discovering their beautiful collection of unique rugs. Nani Marqina, who also joined us that morning, established the company in 1987 with the desire to design innovative rugs combining contemporary design and traditional handcraft. Nanimarquina collaborates with prestigious international designers, like Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for example, to create unique collections.

The Mélange collection was designed by Sibylla as a contemporary version of the kelim. Beautiful one by one, the 20 different pieces of the collection can also be combined and overlayed to create a patchwork effect.

After breakfast, Nanimarquina had prepared a little styling workshop for us with rugs from the Mélange collection. Below you'll find my contribution as well as a few more by my blogger friends Susanna and Desiree...

Below you'll also find a short video, directed by Maite Felices, which shows the collaboration between Doshi Levien and Nanimarquinan resulting in the stunning Rabari rug.
